Fidelity Trading Platforms Compared: Trader+, Active Trader Pro, Web and Mobile

Short answer

If you invest or trade occasionally, the Fidelity website and mobile app cover buying and selling stocks, ETFs and options. If you trade often and want multi-monitor layouts, Level 2 quotes and deeper charting, use Fidelity Trader+ on desktop. Use Trader+ on the web if you can’t install software, and Trader+ Mobile mode in the Fidelity app if you want speed on your phone. Active Trader Pro (ATP) still works, but Fidelity says it will begin sunsetting it in 2027, so new users should start with Trader+.

Which platform fits you

Fidelity website and mobile app

Fidelity advertises $0 commissions on online U.S. stock and ETF trades, with conditions, and says you can trade stocks, ETFs, options and mutual funds from the app. The mobile app offers a single- or multi-screen trade ticket, recurring investments, watch lists, and an options chain with Greeks and charting. Crypto trading is available if you live in an eligible state and have opened a Fidelity Crypto account. On the website, Fidelity’s options tools include a Strategy Evaluator, a Probability Calculator and a Profit/Loss Calculator. Choose these if you trade a few times a month and don’t need multiple screens or Level 2 data.

Fidelity Trader+ (desktop, web and mobile mode)

Trader+ is Fidelity’s platform for active traders and is free, though fees tied to positions or transactions may apply. The desktop app gives each of your watchlist, charts, order entry and news its own space across up to four monitors, with Level 2 quotes, more than 100 indicators and hotkeys. You can start a trade on your phone, save it, and finish it on desktop. Trader+ on the web runs in a browser with no download, and Trader+ Mobile is a mode you switch on in the Fidelity Investments app’s Profile settings. Active Trader Pro

ATP is the older desktop platform Fidelity now calls “Classic.” It is still available, but Fidelity says it will begin sunsetting ATP in 2027. If you’re already using it, you can keep going for now; if you’re choosing a platform today, start with Trader+. Charts don’t transfer between the two, so plan to rebuild them.
