I apologize if this is a stupid question, but I thought Fidelity allowed after-hours trading. This is telling me my order will be eligible for trading on the next business day. Why?
(010550) Please note that the market is closed. Your order will be eligible for trading on the next business day.
To buy or sell shares in your Fidelity account after the market is closed, you must enable extended-hours trading. Here is how.
Click here to read the Fidelity’s Extended-Hours Trading Agreement.
- Go to the bottom of the page and click Start.
- From the drop-down, choose the trading account that you want to enable extended-hours trading. Then confirm your selection.
- Once approved, which should be instant, you can start trading during pre-market hours and after-market hours.
You have to complete the setup for after-hours training (it’s basically an acknowledgment) and then go to advanced options when you’re in the trading screen of the stock you want. It’s a toggle you can flip for after hours when it’s available.
Have you talked to them? I had to call in when I set mine up because they have to tell you about the risks, blah blah.
Have you gone into your settings and activated the after hours trading feature?
